Soon there will be a completely seamless, opaque film over what is real, and we will need enormous resources to do nothing more than get to the truth. If the film is covered with flags and smiling faces, how many of us will have the will to go deeper? Orwell must be smiling grimly in his grave. He told us so.

Indian activist and author, Arundhati Roy, describing the absurd portayal of President Bush's welcome in India, refers to the "corporate" media's take on the event as opposed to more independent sources. In America, we use the euphemism MSM or Main Stream Media...but the more descriptive term may just be the one she uses. Have we heard, by the way, of the "hundreds of thousands" of protestors who took to the streets as she describes?
