Condoleezza Rice, the American Secretary of State may have wanted to bite off her tongue after she said it, but I can't help but hope she actually did feel warmly toward the gay man she swore in as the new US global AIDS coordinator, Mark Dybul, when she referred to his "mother-in-law" who was also present as was Mr. Dybul's parnter, Jason Claire. The house organ of the American Family Association, the so-called Agape Press, had their panties in a bunch, predictably, and snarked about the new ambassador being an "open homosexual". The dimmest comment from the fundie wing, however, was by Peter Sprigg, of the Family Research Council, who opined that "putting a homosexual in charge of AIDS policy is a bit like putting the fox in charge of the henhouse." Conflating homosexuals with AIDS is a moronic analysis that has been discredited by anyone with a brain since the facts belie such a libel, and have done so for about 30 years.
... I'd like to think this is the real Condy speaking...Why Condy, it's so nice to meet ya!
