New Year's Resolution:  A review of my sparse recent postings show a mere monthly burst of opinion.  Since I come to some conclusion about something more frequently than that, I hereby resolve to make a weekly (at least) entry here.  Some random items today:

1) I'm disturbed by the malicious hacking and destruction of the blog host Soapblox which affected, among others, Pam Spaulding and her blog, http://www.pamshouseblend.com/.

2) I'm worrying as I view one particular BBC webpage that demonstrates and encapsulates the scariness that is emerging in Africa.  This is not the place I would call the "developing" world, unless ugliness and fear is the mark of development.  http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/7817100.stm .  As gay folk emerge from the shadows, the backlash--which I call "queer fear"--is becoming more bold and violent.  Unhappily, there is also the eager contingent of preachers who alibi that violence when they refer to gay people in terms that deny us a basic respect.
